Today I continued to work on the social media aspect. We are really trying to improve that because we see a lot of groups succeeding and frustrating to keep not getting a following. Today it clicked and we thought we made good strides to improve the Facebook pages to make them more interactive and friendly to use and attract people. I also started to work on my plan for what I’m gonna say in the shark tank. As a group we all started dividing up the aspects of what we did and how were gonna convey that message in the shark tank.

In first period I think that was a bit less productive then usual with building. That is because I needed some more pipe to continue so instead I helped with Facebook and filmed some video. The second period I got some more pipe allowing me to plan it out and make my auto siphon. Most of my time was used making my siphon. Because i was struggling to find an adhesive that would work so josh helped me find one and the one that worked was PVC glue and hot glue over. After i didn’t have much time so I just measured out the length of the pipes that I will need later

On Friday I was much more successful than the workday before. I started off with the plan I made on wednesday. To spam a bunch of blogs about our product. It was a lot harder than I thought. It forced you to make accounts, wait for approvals, and you had to do it every time. I was only successful to do about 5 blogs. I changed my focus to threads where people talk to eachother, but that wasn’t to successful either. I got a response from one website and I answered them asking for their support, but I haven’t got an answer yet. After doing that, I worked more on our facebook page. Adding friends, and editing our main page. I came up with the idea to make it so that our facebook is to add friends and spread the news about our product, then the page is more official and have that have the people really interested in our product. Finally, I went to document the making of our pump. We made a prototype and it works successfully so now we have to move it to the table.

Today we worked on the completion of the prototype, meaning a fully running system, as well as contacting numerous aquaponic based institutions, a fair number of which replied back. We also updated information on our Facebook page and launched an initiative where the members of this team worked on their speeches about the aquaponics bins by talking to people they didn’t know too well about them. This will b an important factor for the shark tank because of the 20-80 rule. Meaning that 20% of what you do will attribute to 80% of your success and if you are able to capitalize on this phenomenon, then one would have the ability to pitch almost any product in a superb manner.

Pitch ideas / notes from shark tank :
*Dont overvalue EVEN if you are turning down business
*Even if your product is amazing you cant be too cocky about it
*Don’t expand buisness to quick because even if you have a good thing you can expand too soon and it causes many problems resulting in tanking of all buisness
*Don’t say any unknown fact because it might be REALLY incorrect and if THEY know the fact you look like an even bigger jackass
*Don’t say anything that might offended them even a little bit
*Don’t look too nervous or sweat because it makes it look like you are not prepared
These are the notes and takeaways i got from 4 entrepreneurs going up against the sharks.
The other class time bradley and I worked on making the auto-syphon. We did this by getting the gray tubing and cutting about a 3-4 inch piece off the top of it. We then drilled holes in it to allow water to escape fast enough then we hot glued the end of it shut, and put it on our tubing.
We also contacted many organizations to get ourselves out there and some replied back so that was a success. We also put more info onto our Facebook page.
